France became unaccustomed to the wolf almost 100 years ago, but it is now raising the complex issue of how ecosystems and pastoralism can be readapted. My analysis seeks to shed light on the issues at stake. My work is aimed at institutions and decision-makers who want to be better informed about the situation in their area. By collecting data in the field, I document the presence of the predator and its impact on pastoral units. At training courses and conferences, I share my experience as a farmer-shepherd, my knowledge of wolf behaviour and my experience of herd protection measures.
